Here, you will find elegant classicist houses standing next to solemn Catholic churches, an ornate Baroque theatre neighboring an Armenian church, and an ancient Orthodox cathedral adjoining a synagogue. But the brightest of Chernivtsi’s architectural jewels, embodying a mixture of varying styles and cultures, is rightly considered to be the housing compound of the former Bukovinian high priests (today it houses the National University).
