Tour Detail

Day 1: Arrive in Lhasa (3658m) By train or flight

Arrive in Lhasa either by plane where your driver will receive you and deliver you to your accommodation in Lhasa City. Day 1 is an important acclimatization day and you will want to make sure to take it easy, by resting and drinking plenty of water.

Day 2: Sight-seeing in Lhasa City (3658m)

Today your guide will give you a tour of Lhasa City, where you will have a chance to see some of Tibet’s most important and iconic sites, like the Jokhang Temple in Lhasa’s famous Barkhor Square, the renowned Potala Palace, and Ramoche Monastery.

Day 3: Lhasa’s Surrounding Monasteries (3658m)

Today you will have a chance to see two of Tibet’s most famous Gelugpa monasteries, Sera and Drepung. Located just north of Lhasa on Mt. Gambo Utse, Dreqpung one housed ten thousand monks. Meander your way through the dormitories and prayer halls before making a visit to the former home of the state oracle at Nechung Temple. After that, we will also visit a carpet industry before Lunch. In the afternoon, take a trip to Sera Monastery, best known for its lively tradition of debate. Take a walk around the monastery or catch the monks debating in the late afternoon before returning to Lhasa City and preparing to hit the road the following morning.

Day 4 Pabongkha to Sera Monastery Day Hiking

We will take you to see the Pabongkha Monastery, an important historical monastery dating back to 7th century, and the birth place of Tibetan calligraphy, created by Tonmi Sambhota. This experience is followed by a hike over the active Sky-burial to the Tashi Choling Monastery, and a stop at the Takten Mediation Cave (4200m). Lunch (packed lunch) will be enjoyed here, along with a taste of the cave’s blessed spring-water.

The day continues with a hike towards the Sera Monastery, where you will have a chance to capture a bird’s eye view of the Lhasa city.

Day 5: Day trip to Ganden and Dark Yerpa Meditation Caves.

Drive out 48km east-north to Ganden Monastery, the first-ranked from among the six Gelug sect monasteries. Tsongkhapa, the founder of the Gelugpa School, built Ganden Monastery in 1409. Ganden Monastery was famous for its abbot throne holder who was traditionally recruited on the basis of his knowledge by a gathering of monks even from Drepung and Sera Monasteries. After visiting Ganden, drive to Drak Yerpa. Drak Yerpa built on a hillside with more than 80 meditation caves and is described as the “life tree” or spiritual axis of Lhasa. The site had a powerful spiritual heritage; having been visited by Songsten Gampo, Padmasambhava, Yeshe Tsoygel, Padampa Sanggye, and Atisha Before the Cultural Revolution is was the home of several hundred hermits, monks, and nuns. After visiting Drak Yerpa then back to Lhasa and free sightseeing.

Day 6: Set out for Namtso Lake via Damshong 340km

Tibet is imagining with huge mountains, grassland and exonerated river streams including the world’s extinct animals of both domestic and wild. This kind of great trip takes you to look upon the real and close investigation about Tibet more like what it is. The blue lake Namtso (4718m) is the highest salted lake in the world with the natural sights that attracts travelers in Tibet mostly. This holy lake is also considered to be the second largest salted water body in China. The wide open spaces dotted with the tents of local nomads are most unique from rest of the sighs.

Day 7: Drive to Shigatse via Shogula Pass

Today is an amazing day because we will have gorgeous sights about the Tibet Natural slide like the vast plains of Changtang plateau, nomads, animals, Tibetan landscapes, huge snow-covered mountains, Brahmaputra River. We may get to Shigatse at around 2 pm, take easy lunch, and then we will visit Tashilhunpo Monastery. In the evening you can step through Tibetan market in Shigatse.

Day 8: Drive to Lhasa via Gyangtse (3950m, 280km)

In the morning, we drive 90 km to Gyantse and have lunch here, then visit Pelkor Choede Monastery, and Gyantse Dzong and Pala Mayor. Then drive along the southern route to visit Lake Yamdrok youtso lake. En-route you also have few passes Kambala and Karola glacier where we will stop for taking pictures, then we drive safely to Lhasa around 7pm.

Day 9: Depart

Today your driver will transport you to the airport. Good luck on the rest of your journey!
