Discovering, experiencing, reflection and debate, through the path of a circuit Jewish City Tour of Rio de Janeiro on various aspects related to Jewish history and culture of the city, its community and its leading personalities and interaction between this diasporic community, Brazil and the State of Israel and Zionism.

What are we going to visit on this Jewish City Tour?
During the tour, travelers will visit and know the places, streets, buildings, landscapes, the great history of politics, society and power, and small stories of people who were and are protagonists of the Jewish experience in Rio de Janeiro.

Two tour options:

  1. A Tour with a historical perspective on Jewish immigration to Brazil and the relationship of the Jews with the Brazilian state. 
  2.  A Tour to learn about the current Jewish life in the city of Rio de Janeiro

In the Historical tour the places to visit are:

  • The viewpoint "Mirante de Pasmado", where is the Yitzhak Rabin monument and starting the tour telling about the Jewish community in the city. 
  • Itzhak Rabin Park, opened by Lea, his wife, with spectacular views of the beach of Botafogo and Sugar Loaf. 
  • Ari Synagogue Ari (in Botafogo) 
  • Maua Park: Always cosmopolitan, Maua Square has many symbolic events that mark the history of the Marvelous City progress. Some stories about slavery and 
  • Walking. 1.5 km. in Av. Rio Branco: Knowing some historical stories about the Jewish inmigration in the city, and stories from peolpe like Stern, Wallerstein, history of Polish women, 
  • XV Park: Antonio Da Silva history, Inquisition, Don pedro II who spoke hebrew, 
  • Great Temple of Rio de Janeiro, a beautiful building from 1932: visiting the synagofue and also learning about the history of Praza Onze, samba, the Jewish life, 
  • Lapa: the arches, Oswaldo Aranha restaurant.

In the Community tour the places to visit are (some for inside, and some for outside):

  • The viewpoint "Mirante de Pasmado", where is the Yitzhak Rabin monument and starting the tour telling about the Jewish community in the city. 
  • Itzhak Rabin Park, opened by Lea, his wife, with spectacular views of the beach of Botafogo and Sugar Loaf. 
  • Ari Synagogue Ari (in Botafogo) 
  • Great Temple of Rio de Janeiro, a beautiful building from 1932. 
  • Safra Synagogue. 
  • Club Hebraica 
  • Eliezer School 
  • The Synagogue Shel Gmelut Hassadim (in Judeo-Spanish Sephardic rite), which has received the visit of Emperor Dom Pedro II, located in Botafogo. 
  • Chabad Lubavitch Synagogue and Cultural Center Midrash (in Leblon). 
  • Club Israelita Brasileiro and the Synagogue Beth El

** Visited sites can change according to availability and authorization of institutions.

Duration: 4 hours. 
** It takes, at least, 7 working days to book the service, prior to the date of the tour.

Guests can get full refunds at any time of cancellation prior to the actual date of the tour if that cancellation is due to a Force Major reason. Force Major reasons include but are not limited to war, civil insurrection, strikes, volcanoes, extreme weather, earthquake, and natural disasters.
