This easy walking tour takes your inside the oldest above ground cemetery in New Orleans. The cemetery is closed to the public and only available to see with a tour guide. Learn the facinating history of this incredible city through viewing the tombs in this 230 year old cemetery. 

Tour Detail

The tour leaves at 9:30 am from 1026 conti street and ends at the Basin Street Station on Basin St.  It takes about an hour to tour the cemetery. Learn all about why we do above ground buriels, about the scourges of colera and yellow fever, about the Voodoo Priestess Marie Laveau, Storyville, history of Jazz music, Free Creoles of color, civil rights and more. Yes all this is talked about while walking around and through the maze of this old cemetery. No filming allowed but take all the photos you want. Its nice in the morning because there is still shade and shadow.

"Almost as crazy as the actual Mardi Gras. " A must visit when in New Orleans. You can see where they store and build the floats and props for the parade. If you love selfies, then this is the place for you!
