Tour Detail

Day 1: Huaraz - San Pedro - Santa Cruz village - Willcacocha
Duration: 20 min (by car) 3 - 4 hours (hiking)
Our guide will pick up you at your hotel after breakfast with our transportation and we’ll drive about 20 minutes southeast of Huaraz to the bridge of the Santa Cruz Village where we will start ascending to the lake Willcacocha. Upon arriving the lake, you will be amazed with the magnificent views of the Cordillera Blanca mountain range with its highest mountain Huascaran at 6768m/22,205ft. At such a vantage point, you will have the perfect lookout point for enjoying the surrounding breath taking views and shooting some “10 on the drool scale” photos and we have lunch enjoying the panorama view. Our private transportation will be waiting to take back to Huaraz Hotel.Total time of this acclimation journey is approximately 6 hours.

Day 2: Huaraz - Macashca - lake Rajucolta - return to Huaraz
Duration: 50 min (by car) 5 - 6 hours (hiking)
Our team will pick you at your hotel in our private van and head southeast of Huaraz and travel through the village of Macashca. We’ll continue driving for approximately 2 to 2 ½ hours until we reach the entrance of the beautiful Huascaran National Park. From this point, we will start hiking up this fabulous valley that is fairly flat and has a lot of cattle. We follow the trail along the mountain stream up to this stunningly beautiful lake. Laguna Rajucolta is situated at 4250m / 13,934 ft and is a perfect glacial lake having the 6395m (20,981ft) majestic Nevado Huantsan framing its background. The peace and beauty that this hiking experience gives you in this enchanting land of high mountains, glacier fed lakes and colossal landscapes, is unforgettable. We will rest at the lake enjoying a provided lunch and taking photos before returning back to our private transportation awaiting us. The hiking distance from the entrance of Huascaran National Park to the lake is about 7 km (4.5 miles) (3 hours approximately with about a 2 hours return).

Day 3: Huaraz - Yungay - Llanganuco's valley - Cebollapampa - lake 69 - Huaraz
Duration: 3 hours (by car) 5 - 6 hours (hiking)
This hike rated as medium to hard , because of the altitude and challenging hiking effort at the last section just before to reach the lake, combines and scenic mountain view of the main peaks in the Cordillera Blanca, beautiful colored lakes, reach vegetation and magnificent water falls dropping down along the valley.
We will pick you up at your hotel then drive north in our private transportation along the Callejon de Huaylas valley following the curse of the main river Santa in the Valley that divides the Cordillera Blanca at the East and the Cordillera Negra at the West, passing traditional town with its farmlands and enjoy the view of the peaks of the Cordillera Blanca. As we reach Yungay drive up on the dirt road to the North East where is located the Llanganuco Valley , just at the entarbce of the valey we Stop at the Huascaran National Park check point to register the continue drive up passing the beautiful lakes of Chinancocha and Orconcocha , make an stop at the side of the Lake Chinancocha to takes some pictures then drive ahead to Cebollapamapa at 3900., our star hiking point to the lake 69.
At the beginning it is an pleasant hike on the almost flat area for about 1 hour, passing through quenual tress enjoying view surrounded on the back ground we have the view of Huascaran mountain, the highest peak in the Cordillera Blanca, Chopicalqui, Yanapaccha.Then ascend on the well market sig sag path to the first small lake, as we gain hight a dramatic glaciated peak of Chacraraju,Yanapaccha, Huascaran, Chopicalqui and water falls in the valley comes into view. Continue ascending on the last sig sag path to the lake 69, some people find hard demandind the last section just before o reach the lake, you may feel the effects of the altitude and get tired just a last effort to get the lake. It is really worded to reach the lake you will be impressed by the beauty of the lake and a close up view of Pisco and Chacraraju mountains. Relax take pictures have box lunch enjoying the landscape sourrouded then descend on the same way to Cebollapampa , where our transportation is waiting to drive you back to Huaraz. Timing about 11 – 12 hours full day adventure journey.
