DAY 1

Arrive Goroka (Recommended Flight: PX 960 0830/0945 POM/GKA) 

Meet, greet and assist with your transfer and luggage car to the Pacific Gardens Hotel for unpacking, as we will drive down through the fertile Asaro Valley, past a landscape and culture frozen in time and thousands of years in the past. Also in a hail to the modern face of PNG, swing past the emerging coffee plantations, the most verdant vegetable gardens east of eden, the incorrigable  sweet potato (the main staple crop and diet of the island,) and other traditional clan agriculture dotted with the seeds of emerging contact with the world. 

Head next to neatly laid out homesteads in Luhuka Village, to witness the World famous Asaro Mudman Dance, the village life of the Asaro Tribemen in the Asaro Valley, and enjoy the vibrant annual face painting and observe villagers prepare and cook a meal in the traditional earth oven (as they will say, their “tasty mumu”) Experience for lunch a tasting with the local villagers, and enjoy what will be the most unique picnic of your life in a remote village in PNG! 

After this tour portion, we will next drive out to Ketetya Village, for a Simbu culture & community visit in the central highlands of Papua New Guinea. After this afternoon tour, we retire back to the hotel for rest and dinner

DAY 2 

We recommend that you enjoy an early breakfast this morning at the dining room downstairs in order to start at 7:00 am. Today we depart early at 7:30 for visiting the world-famous singsing groups from different provinces all lined up and in full garb in their camps. You will be able to very closely see how their unbelievable body decorations and colorful traditional costumes, face painting, and our guides will provide lots of explanations to you on the types of costumes and their significance in the cultures of these people.

We will proceed INTO THE SHOW GROUNDS TO WITNESS THOUSANDS OF WARRIORS, all dressed in their very finest traditional regalia, dancing and enjoying the most massive singsing in PNG! - Each group, each culture, each with their own languages...with the tournament intended to out-show and outclass all the other groups. Walk among the dancers, shake hands, and meet them on their big day, as they themselves enjoy showing off! 

Return to your hotel late in the afternoon.

Enjoy picnic lunch at the show grounds provided by our staff and Pacific Gardens Hotel.

DAY 3

Transfer to the Show ground after breakfast to enjoy ANOTHER FULL DAY AT THE GOROKA FESTIVAL (GOROKA SHOW.) Return to your hotel in the late afternoon. Enjoy picnic lunch provided by a valley steakhouse (!) at the show grounds, and continue until 2:00 – 3:00 pm.

From 3:30 – 5:00, we will visit the Haus Tumbuna for g
uest tours where you will experience and witness the demonstrations of traditional living in PNG, and the going-abouts and daily chores in the central Highlands of "Niugini." You will be transferred late to your hotel at the end of this full day for rest and dinner.

For this night, our partner the Bird of Paradise Hotel usually will have a Traditional Ball Night and we do arrange and transfer our guests to have dinner at the Bird of Paradise and be part of the event.

DAY 4

After breakfast at 8am, you will be picked up from your hotel to head to Kama Village for meeting the Traditional Chief (enthusiastically) practicing polygamy in the central highlands, demonstrating his prestige’s of wives, pigs and children...and demonstrating his wealth and authority as a territorial chief in his own tribal clan.

After this rather interesting cultural capstone tour, we will drive back to the hotel for lunch, and you will be finally be transferred to the Airport for (recommended) the GKA/POM flight PX 963 1215/1430.

Arrive Port Moresby and transferred to the international d
eparture lounge for your onward flight.

OR

You will be transferred early in the morning for GKA/POM Flight PX 160 0945/1010 for transfers to international departures.
