3 DAYS ITINERARY


Day 1 

You will be picked up as early as 06:30am and travel by road to Owers Corner, visiting Bomana Cemetery en-route.(If you would like to see the cemetery) 

From Owers Corner, a steep sudden descent commences down into Goldie River, passing through Uberi and Dump 66, you trek towards Good Waters where you break for lunch. 

After lunch, a short climb up Imita Ridge and down through 14 ankle-deep river crossing until you reach Ua-Ule where you set camp for the night. 


Overnight: Ua-Ule Camp

Day 2 

After breakfast, you trek through an ankle-deep river crossing, and climb up towards Ioribaiwa Village.


Here you unpack and enjoy lunch over looking the beautiful lush green jungles towards Port Moresby. Here you can see how far you have trekked!

After lunch, leaving your camping gear behind you trek up to Ioribaiwa Ridge, the most southern point reached by the Japanese forces. Trenches and pits dug during the war remain and can be visited here. 


Overnight: Ioribaiwa Camp

Day 3 

Breaking camp as early as 06:30am, after breakfast you retrace your steps back towards Ua-Ule creek, crossing many river crossings, and climbing Imita Ridge, you descend back to Good Waters where you break for lunch. 

After lunch you continue back, crossing through Goldie River and up, to end your trek at Owers Corner. 

Here your transport awaits to bring you back to Port Moresby.

6 DAYS ITINERARY


Day 1 : Arrive Jacksons Airport Port Moresby 



Connect on a domestic flight in the afternoon into Girua Popondetta, ETA Girua @ 16:00pm. 

On arrival at Girua Popondetta, you will be met by our porter team and taken to Kokoda by vehicle. The ride takes approximately 2 hours. 


NOTE: Your flight across the Owen Stanley Ranges will leave from Jacksons Field Airport in Port Moresby. The distance covered in 25 minutes by air takes most people a week or more! So look down on what you're about to experience first hand!



Overnight Kokoda. (D) 



Day 2 Kokoda - Deneki 



Today will be an easy day for you, as you get the feel of the track and environment. You will be briefed by your Trek Master, before setting off...after getting an orientation and visiting the Museum and other historic sights around Kokoda village. 

Your trek begins through the rubber plantations so vividly described in the war time records...Trek from Kokoda to Hoi Village, meet the locals on the villagers along the track, Swim in the cool rivers, and enjoy a quick lunch. 

From Hoi you begin a gradual and unrelenting climb, before stopping to rest at Deniki, where you will enjoy beautiful views out to Kokoda – you can see here how far you have walked already! 



Overnight and rest your legs looking back down into Kokoda Village and the Yodda Valley. 



Overnight Deneki Camp site (B,L,D) 



Day 3 Deneki Alola 



From Deniki, you begin your journey through the vast “choko” fields, continuing your climb up to ‘new’ Isurava. 

For many, today will be the highlight of their trek as you make your way to the “Battlefield Memorial” and the site of a major battle. You reflect on the gallantry, courage and sacrifice of the soldiers who
fought here. Our guide will lead you. 



It was here that Australian Private Bruce Kingsbury received the first Victoria Cross (posthumously) of the South Pacific campaign. We then move on to the village of Alola where we make camp for the night. 



Overnight: Alola

Day 4 Alola / Abuari



Initially you will backtrack a short distance to the track that will take you off the Kokoda Track, and onto the opposite ridge, and along to Abuari Village, the area where the 16th Battalion and the 53rd Battalion set positions to stop the Japanese advance.

Day 5 Abuari / Deneki 



Our last day on the Kokoda Track, and you have done most of the hard work by now! 

You make your way back to the starting point, but enjoy the different villages you will see along the way. 

All along the track, you will find the people are friendly and welcoming. You will reach Deneki to overnight.

Day 6 Deneki / Popondetta Girua / Port Moresby 


Another early start this morning, as you break camp as early as 06:00am, arriving into Kokoda in time to travel by road back the 2 hour journey to Popondetta for your return flight to Port Moresby. 

On your way to the airport, you will stop by the sleepy town and observe the everyday people of PNG who travel in from rural areas to access the goods and services in the town. 

You get the opportunity to see and shop for local crafts and artifacts if you wish to. 

Your flight will be in the afternoon. 


Overnight: Port Moresby

Day 7: Depart Port Moresby
