A historian of the Old Dominion, Rick Britton specializes in
18th- and 19th-century Virginia history. His areas of expertise include
the life and times of Thomas Jefferson, the American Civil War, and the
history of the central Piedmont. With over 200 published articles and
essays under his belt, he’s the author of Albemarle &
Charlottesville: An Illustrated History
(2006), the award-winning Jefferson: A
Monticello Sampler
(2008), and Virginia Vignettes (Vol. I): Famous
Characters & Events in Central Virginia History
(2015). Along with
his writing, Rick conducts battlefield tours, teaches Virginia
history classes, organizes history programming, illustrates maps
for history books and web-sites, and lectures frequently on a wide range
of Virginia history topics.
