TOUR DETAILS:

MT WELLINGTON

After our morning refreshment our tour continues to Mount Wellington, also known as ‘Kunanyi’, the Aboriginal name given to the mountain by the traditional owners of the land. Mount Wellington is the backdrop to Hobart City, with breathtaking panoramic views of the city at 1271m above sea level. This perspective of Hobart includes the Derwent River, Storm Bay, surrounding suburbs and beaches. This is one of the most unique perspectives of Hobart to be enjoyed, from a 'bird's eye view', perched high above the city.


CASCADE BREWERY 

We continue our tour after lunch, travelling down the mountain to see the iconic Cascade Brewery standing in startling, gothic isolation next to the clean-running Hobart Rivulet, Cascade is Australia’s oldest brewery (1832). A great stop for a photo opportunity.


JACKMAN & McROSS  Battery Point                                                MORNING COFFEE  

Next we take the picturesque drive down off the mountain, through the natural bush setting to the historic suburb of Battery Point. Lovely modern Victorian decor awaits at 

Jackman & McRoss, with a charming vibe and a great reputation for coffee pasties & savouries. Popular with locals and travellers alike for the very friendly service.

Your choice of tea/coffee/fruit juice or soft drink as a morning refreshment. 

If you are hungry and want a bit to eat before lunch this is the place to buy it, Yum....


SALAMANCA & BATTERY POINT

We have a drive back to Hobart to historic Salamanca Place and around the intriguing waterfront/wharf area. Salamanca Place is a precinct of Hobart. Hobart's Salamanca Place is renown for its historic buildings that house artist studios, restaurants, cafes, galleries and craft shops. More shops, cafes and restaurants surround nearby Salamanca Square. Salamanca Market, is held in Salamanca Place every Saturday, a bustling hub of activity for both locals and tourists.  


RICHMOND VILLAGE

On to Richmond which is one of Tasmania's most popular destinations, steeped in history, family-friendly and a hub for food and wine lovers. Nestled in the heart of the Coal River Valley, Richmond was established as an important military staging post and convict station linking Hobart with Port Arthur. The village is famous for its elegant Georgian architecture, with beautiful heritage buildings dating back as early as the 1820's, now housing galleries, tea shops, craft boutiques and museums. 

We have half an hour to explore the Village and wander over the oldest bridge in Australia.

1:30 Coal River Farm restaurant offers modern Australian cuisine with our own farmy twist. We aren't sure whether that fits into a category or not but it is the only way we can think of describing it. We take the best seasonal produce from the local Coal River Valley and our very talented chefs turn out some modern takes on classic dishes. Our philosophy is centred around using our own produce wherever we can. Our pigs are a regular feature on our menu. They are raised in a peaceful free range environment right here and fed with a diet of whey from the cheesemaking process, fresh scraps and pellets (they love visitors if you are up for a short stroll). All other items on the menu are made fresh on site including the bread, baked daily, Everything from the condiments and pickles in our dishes to the smoking of our fish and other meats is done right here.

The tour shows you the working factory and tasting of Abalone. Our premises are export approved and are required to meet stringent standards to maintain our accreditation.  Tas Live Abalone is a boutique Abalone marketing company operating from a “State of the Art” processing facility. Tas Live Abalone primarily exports a variety of Premium Wild Abalone products to international markets around the world.

Abalone Canned 120g  $ 33.00 There is 1 abalone in the can, because we can only fit one in there. You have to remember all our products are wild caught not framed. 

Sea Cucumber 100g $ 33.00 Australian wild prickly sea cucumber is caught in the coral sea. Size range is from 10cm long up to 40cm

A Grade Green Lip Dry Abalone 100g $ 99.00 This is the world's best quality of beautiful taste ahead of a Japanese product. The basis of taste is inhabited a deep place than a normal abalone and is born by truly pure water of Tasmania and special seaweed.

SANDY BAY ( Optional )

We will continue the tour by travelling back toward Hobart, through the city to Sandy Bay’s best Deli, 'Lipscombe Larder' where you will find a
treasure trove of fine Tasmanian food and wines that you may like to purchase (optional) to enjoy later back at your accommodation. We arrive back to your
accommodation at approximately 3:00pm - completing your memorable day of experiencing Hobart and all it has to offer.
