Brief

One fixed departure per week from the highlands to the jungle lowlands. Includes a visit to a Cock-of-the-Rock display ground. Manu Wildlife Center’s Macaw Clay Lick. Oxbow lakes with Giant Otters, a colorful diversity of birds and mammals, access to our large canopy platform and much more! One night in the cloud forest (Cock-of the- Rock Lodge), one night in the forested Andean foothills and three nights in the jungle lowlands (Manu Wildlife Center). The trip starts in Cusco and ends in Puerto Maldonado.

Tour Detail

Day 1 Cusco to Cock of the Rock Lodge . -Our overland journey begins at 11,150ft, with an early adventure from the highland city of Cusco. We fisrt visit a mountain wetland habitat teeming with migrant and local waterfowl, before crossing two mountain ranges between the Cusco and Paucartambo Valley. We take leisurely stops to see mountain villages, archaeological places, wonderful landscapes and more. After a picnic lunch, we explore the area sunrounded by an Elfin forest (Polylepis and grass mostly), we continue the adventure descending a zigzag beautiful road making more stops for watching flora, fauna, pictures or anything you are interested in until we arrive to our Lodge. 

Day 2 Cock of the Rock Lodge to Amazonia Lodge.- Rising early, we have the chance to enjoy the Andean cock of the rock dancing. After this activity, we go back to the lodge watching birds on the way and some monkeys too. After a consistent breakfast, we go down to the valley where the boat awaits for us...we make more stops on the way for sure. Lunch at the Lodge and a short walking in the middle forest.

Day 3 Amazonia Lodge to Manu Wildlife Center.- After an amazing birding very early in the morning, we take the breakfast and we continue the trip down to the river. We travel about 5 hours in the boat, making stops for pictures or lunch arriving in the afternoon for our next activities.

Day 4 Macaw´s & Mammals Clay Lick .- An early activity. We take the boat down to river for oberving one of the most beautiful wildlife activities, Macaws, parrots, parkeets and other animals gather at the old river bank for eating or licking the clay wich has salt and another minerals. Back to the lodge and lunch. The next activitie is in the afternoon. We walk into the forest enjoying the pristine forest and the fauna, however the destination is the Mammals clay lick, where is posible to see the largest mammal in South America, the Tapir.

Day 5 Owbow Lake.- After an early and delicious breakfast, we visit the lake which harbors the most interesting flora and fauna, amazing birds such as Toucans, Hoatzins, Macaws, Hawks, Cardinals among others. Back to the lodge for another hiking in the middle of the forest and lunch. In the afternoon we visit one of the hightest canopy towers in the Amazon Forest.

Day 6 Manu Wildlife Center to Puerto Maldonado - Departure day.- After the breakfast we leave our lodge on the two hour and a half return boat trip downstream to the Colorado village. We rent the local vehicle to get the next dock and once we get that, we rent another local transport. We take our private van until Puerto Maldonado Airport.

NO refund if cancel within 3 days before tour starts.

Guests can get full refunds at any time of cancellation prior to the actual date of the tour if that cancellation is due to a Force Major reason. Force Major reasons include but are not limited to war, civil insurrection, strikes, volcanoes, extreme weather, earthquake, and natural disasters.
