Walking city tour "By streets of ancient Lviv" Walking tour starts from the Old Market Square called Rynok Square registered at UNESCO list, built according to the prescriptions of the Magdeburg Law established here in the 14th century. In the centre there is a rather heavy and dominating City Hall and it is surrounded by a fascinating variety of beautiful mansions with their renaissance and baroque facades, some of them still bearing traces of Ukrainian folk architecture.(Here in Lviv you can find vivid examples of Ukrainian baroque style). The narrow cobbled streets around Rynok Square once housed the workshops of L’viv shoemakers, printers, chemists and numerous other L’viv tradesmen. Some of today’s street names, for instance Virmen’ska (Armenian), Jevrejska (Jewish) or Serbska (Serbian) still remind visitors that once ethnic communities of Ukrainians and Greeks, Germans and Serbs, Jews, Italians and Poles, Scots, Tatars, Hungarians and Saracens combined to make a ‘Babylon’of the medieval town of Lviv. Visit to the former Grand Opera House, now Solomia Krushelnitska – an outstanding Europian opera singer State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet, Ensemble of the Armenian Church, Complex of Uspenska (Assumption) Church.
