Brief

Beijing is known as the capital of China, or the forbidden city, the center of politics, economics and finance, etc. But Beijing is also the most popular place for Chinese contemporary art.

Tour Detail

Day 1

I will take you to 798, which used to be a military factory, which is why it does not have a name but a number. Not only has it not produced weapons since 2002, but also more and more artists have started to move here, as it is slowly becoming the most popular contemporary art zone. I will give you an introduction to the history of Chinese contemporary art while we visit the galleries, art studios, and design studios over there; some of the owners are my good friends.

During lunch time we can have typical Beijing food in the heart of 798.

In the afternoon we can visit the CaoChangDi Art Zone, where you can visit some art studios and chat and make friends with the local artists. You can observe how they create art work; you can also give them your opinions on their pieces and maybe also show them some of your art work.

At dinner time, I will take you to Quanjude restaurant at Houhai, where you can try Beijing duck and watch the Changing faces show as well as the Beijing Opera. After dinner we can have some beer at a bar at the Hutongs.

Day 2

I will take you to SongZhuang, which is on the countryside of Beijing; once there we can visit the SongZhuang museum. I will also introduce you to some local artists and bring you to their art studios. Depending on your interests and background, we can visit sculpture studios, ceramic workshops, and so on.

I have been in the art field for many years; I graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design. I have been teaching at the best art college in China: Central Academy of Fine Arts, and am sure we will become good friends. My tour will really get you into the heart of Beijing contemporary art.
